More and more potential patients are looking online for an optometrist via computer, mobile device or tablet. As one of the main online portals to your Practice, your website often creates the first impression for many of these potential new patients. A recent study by emarketer.com showed that nearly 60% of respondents said they would watch a video before reading text on the same webpage. Unlike text or even photos, a video on your website really shows a visitor who you are. Through a personal video on your homepage you can introduce yourself, show how you care about your patients and create a sense of approachability and trust that will encourage new visitors to choose you and your Practice. Also consider creating some educational videos on eye care topics to keep visitors on your website, help establish your clinical expertise and to enhance comfort and trust.

Including forms for patients to schedule an appointment, register at your Practice, order contact lenses or send an email to your office, provides immediate value to website visitors. Conveniences like this show that you care to make your patient’s lives easier and that you are up to date with the advances that the web can provide.
  1. Striking images. The images on your website, particularly your homepage, may be the biggest factor in creating the immediate impression a visitor gets for your Practice. Make sure your images are professional grade and provide insight into the feel and experience at your Practice.
  1. Fantastic testimonials. Every Practice knows which patients are raving fans. Reach out and ask them to write a testimonial or take a short video to post on your site. Satisfied patients will likely be happy to help, especially if you offer a small incentive, such as a gift card to a local coffee shop or a box of chocolates.
  1. Mobile friendly design. While this is a more technical element of web design, having a mobile friendly website really is essential given the growing amount of users searching for local businesses on mobile devices. If they can’t see your website they certainly won’t be impressed.
